Eight Ames High School freshman students founded a small company called Swivel Ideas, LLC. The company originated from an eighth grade seminar called Entrepreneurs Grow on TRIZ presented by Ideation International. TRIZ, pronounced as trees, is a Russian acronym translating as the Theory of Inventive Problem Solving. The seminar presented us with information about entrepreneurship and how to invent. Following a successful seminar we were challenged to become real entrepreneurs. We worked through the second semester of our eighth grade year and through the summer to create our company. Since our beginning we have traveled on business trips, made presentations to other schools, presented to the International TRIZ Conference, the American Society for Quality Conference, and worked to prepare our inventions as products for the marketplace. We released our first product, the Chill Chaser, the following summer and we plan for more products to hit the market!
